2016: Lookin' for New Sounds
it'somewhat humanoid! is a solo project that I started back in 2010.
i'SH! began as an inexperienced guitar player searching for fame, trying to emulate early 2000 Myspace emo pop singers. Yet, I have always wanted my music to be a force of change for the better. (It must have been from being raised on the revolutionary sounds of the '60s!)
When I went to college, I experimented with new production techniques, inspired by a friend who produced electronic music. This was also a time of great change in my philosophies & beliefs, as I explored myself. This exploration was reflected in the art I was creating.
In 2016, I went through a musical existential crisis of sorts. Looking at my large catalog of music, I was put off by how superficial my music was. Even my own singing voice was an attempt to be someone else. I deleted everything, began the search for my authentic singing voice, and created the New Sounds EP.
Ever since then, I have dedicated my time to crafting poetic & honest lyrics, creating an authentic sound, and taking the time to ensure that my musical choices are meaningful.
i'SH! remains a solo project, in which I write, play, and produce all of the music.
I will continue creating meaningful music & experimenting with new sounds & techniques.
